Distilled from 100% Pedro Ximénez sunny grape wines, with a yield close to 90 liters of Brandy per ton of fresh grape. Authentic certified raisin wine is distilled in order to obtain “Fine Holandas de Alquitara”, capable of providing a “Brandy distilled from wine” with organoleptic characteristics different from those of any other distillate.
Until this Solera was founded in 1948, no viticulturist dedicated to Pedro Ximénez had done anything similar, and even today our procedures are the only ones of their type known in Spain. After distillation, this product spends 12 years in a 750-liter chestnut barrel and another 12 years in a 250-liter American oak barrel. Once the precise quality for the Fortaleza Nº1 cigars has been selected, another year spends unifying the set obtained. The sum of the aging periods makes the average age of each bag not less than 25 years.
Given that it is a specific selection for cigars, the barrels are not chosen that maintain a regularity with the rest of the Solera, but rather those that have organoleptic characteristics markedly suitable for the cigars they should accompany.
VISUAL: Visually pale amber. It is not particularly oxidized and its level of color intensity is very faint, despite its marked age, which shows rims with subtle slightly greenish iridescence, typical of its years in contact with Oak.
OLFATIVE: In the olfactory phase, the initial alcoholic intensity shows, after a few seconds of oxygenation, gently balanced and subtle, with notes of raisins and fine figs. Integrated wood that is rounded off with notes of raisin, as well as hints of noble woods, joinery and old Solera background.
TASTE: On the palate it is round, pleasant, velvety and with a subtle sweetness reminiscent of both the raw material and the barrels in which it has aged. The retro-nasal phase is full of perceptions, with a very prolonged aftertaste intensity.Download Tasting Note
